I was at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area on Monday taking pictures of areas that were to be closed the next day because of the avian influenza.

About 10 years ago, some black sand ended up in the LNP | LancasterOnline photo studio and has sat in a cabinet ever since. I am not sure what it was used for.

This viewfinder was found Sept. 4, 2024, during a media tour of Shank’s Extracts after the East Hempfield Township plant was sold in 2021 and expanded under new ownership to Virginia-based Universal Corp.

I took vacation time the first week of December so I could make a trip, or two, to Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River in Hartford County, Maryland, to photograph bald eagles. The number of eagles increases at Conowingo in November and December.

For most people, capturing images on their cell phone is easy and they look great. I know people who only use their iPhone to take photos and some of the images are amazing. For me, for some reason, I always struggle taking photos with my phone, and I am usually not happy with the results.

I caught this out of the corner of my eye Oct. 9 as I was looking for fall pumpkins to photograph. That late-day light provides the best opportunities, and I always love a good silhouette, as long as the background is clean.
